A professional and
social organization designed to encourage cooperation and friendship throughout the law enforcement community of Virginia.

  History:
The Police Association of Virginia was started in 1941 as the Norfolk Police Division Alumni Association.  In 1943 members of the Portsmouth Police Relief Association were voted into membership and in 1947, patrolmen in the Norfolk and Portsmouth Police Departments were admitted in to the organization for the first time.  In 1948, the name was changed to the Police Association of Virginia.  The Association has grown from the original 33 members of 1941 to over 600 members today.
